Our Coventry and Kenilworth office receives CQC ‘Outstanding’ rating for the second time
We are delighted to share some exciting news with you – our Coventry and Kenilworth office has received a second Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), reaffirming our position in the top 2% of Coventry and Warwickshire homecare providers, and the top 4% providers nationally.
The CQC praised our ongoing commitment to putting people at the heart of its service, from our outstanding Caregiver training to the experience of our clients:
“The provider continued to be passionate about building an outcome-focused service, which helped people achieve their goals and priorities. They had an extremely proactive attitude to the training and development of staff who were enthusiastic in their desire to provide the best quality care to people. There continued to be a very strong person-centred culture at all levels within Unique Senior Care Coventry. Treating people with dignity and respect and promoting independence was at the heart of Caregivers’ working practices.”
Under the CQC’s programme of inspections, all adult social care services are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. CQC’s recently published report ‘State of Care 2018/19’, shows that only 4% of adult social care services inspected (as at 14 October 2019) were rated outstanding. Not only that, we are one of only three Outstanding-rated providers in Coventry and Warwickshire (out of 199 providers), and of those three, Unique Senior Care Coventry and Kenilworth is the only specialist homecare provider for the elderly.
We are a care company that specialises in one thing: people. It doesn’t matter how simple or complex our clients’ needs are, we care for each person with respect, dignity and compassion. We were therefore delighted that the report found that our clients and their families are enthusiastic about the service they receive:
“People spoke extremely positively about the Caregivers who provided their care and support. They told us they received care from a consistent team of Caregivers they had built a relationship of trust and friendship with. Comments included: “They look after me very nicely indeed, and I consider them as friends. I look forward to them coming to visit”, “Staff are kind and they are definitely caring” and, “They are just like family. I do look forward to them coming to see me.””
Our wonderful Caregivers were also specifically praised by CQC inspectors, who stated that:
“There continued to be a very strong person-centred culture at all levels within Unique Senior Care Coventry. Caregivers were extremely motivated and understood that people were at the heart of the service…One Caregiver told us, “I feel a real sense of pride in the standard of care I am able to offer. I think I make a difference to people’s lives. I have a smile on my face, I don’t take my worries or concerns into people’s homes and that makes a difference. I am able to reduce people’s isolation and loneliness.””
At Unique Senior Care, we are committed to providing a service of the highest possible quality that meets the needs of both our clients and their families. The positive comments received from the CQC inspectors and the Outstanding rating confirm to us that we are getting it right. Commenting on the rating, our directors Phil Wright-Howarth and Phil Maundrill said:
“This news brings us immense pride, as to be awarded it once is an achievement, but to repeat it three years later is a true testament to the continued fantastic efforts of the Coventry and Kenilworth team and the excellent relationships they develop with our clients. We work hard to find the right staff with the right attitude. Care is delivered by caring and compassionate Caregivers who love their work and who feel respected for what they do. We are delighted that this has been recognised by the CQC.”
