My mum’s got all her things around her, she’s got more freedom and 1-1 with the carers. She sleeps better, eats better, is more content and can go out when she likes.

One of the Top 20 Home Care Groups in 2024 - homecare.co.uk

We have been so pleased with the care provided by Unique Senior Care. My mother has a core of four carers for days and nights, all of whom go above and beyond. The carers are so kind, professional and work incredibly hard to provide Mum with a comfortable and happy environment.

Caroline H (Daughter of Client)

The carers are superb and couldn't be improved upon. The coordinator is excellent and support from the office has clearly improved - we get far less 'last minute dot com' and this is important for my daughter. The care transforms my daughter's life.

J J (Mother of Client)

Set up care for elderly neighbour who was not very mobile and needed help with daily care. Unique Senior Care Solihull provided exactly the kind of care that she needed and she couldn't be happier.

Karen H (Friend of Client)

I have found every helper to be kind, caring and more than happy to do whatever to make our lives easier. My husband often doesn't want to have a shower but they are very good at persuading him, which is excellent.

I T (Wife of Client)

The office is most supportive and easy to contact. This has greatly reduced our stress and gives us continuance. We have been dealing with care agencies for many years. Unique is by far the best.

Martin L (Relative of Client)

The carers are a breath of fresh air for my mother and brighten her day considerably! The staff are friendly and supportive and have been so willing to provide extra help and advice as my mother's needs have changed.

What is a companionship care service?

Companionship care offers support and company for those who may feel isolated or need a bit of help day to day. It’s all about building real connections and making sure each day feels that little bit brighter - whether that’s heading out somewhere you enjoy, sharing a cup of tea and a chat, or simply spending time together doing things you love, all in the comfort of your own home.

Is it right for you?

Companionship care can make such a difference for anyone who feels lonely or could use some extra support. It’s perfect for:

  • Older adults who live alone and would love social interaction and a friendly face to brighten their day.
  • People recovering from an illness or injury who need a bit of help staying connected while they get back on their feet.
  • Families who are caring for a loved one and could use some time to rest, knowing that someone trusted is there to help.

Whether it’s about easing loneliness, getting practical support, or just having someone there to share life’s little moments, this type of care is tailored to suit what you need.

It’s available as part of both hourly care - where visits are arranged around your schedule- and live-in care, which provides full-time support for those who need someone there throughout the day and night.

How changes lives

Loneliness affects so many people, especially as they get older. According to Age UK, around 1 in 14 people aged 65 and over in the UK - nearly 940,000 people - often feel lonely, and 270,000 older people in England go a whole week without speaking to a friend or family member.

It’s hard to imagine the impact that can have on someone’s wellbeing, which is why having the right companionship can make such a difference.

Finding independence through the right companionship

After a serious accident, Angharad found that having the right Caregivers changed everything. They’re there to help with practical tasks, but more than that, they’re there to spend time with her. From cooking together to watching TV and getting out and about, her Carers have brought connection and independence back into her life.

Angharad and her mum, jo, sat smiling at the camera, with an overlayed speech bubbble which reads "“Knowing my daughter is in safe hands is the biggest gift you could possibly ask for.”

The benefits of companionship care at home

Having someone to share your time with can have a big impact on how you feel every day. It can help you feel supported, more connected, and comfortable in your own home. Here’s what it can bring to your life:

  • Feel less lonely: Spending time with someone who listens and shares your day can make things feel less isolating and more enjoyable.
  • Make daily life easier and brighter: Little things, like cooking together, chatting over tea, or enjoying a favourite show, can bring a sense of ease and comfort to your day.
  • Stay independent while getting support: With the right help, you can keep doing the things you want to while staying in the place you’re happiest—your home.
  • Reassurance for your family: Knowing someone is there to look out for you helps your loved ones feel more at ease and less worried about your day-to-day life.
  • Build a real connection: Build a Real Connection A great Caregiver takes time to get to know you, shares your interests, and often becomes someone you genuinely enjoy spending time with.

How we match you with the right Caregiver

Good companionship starts with a good match. We take time to understand what matters to you - your interests, routines, and the type of person you’d enjoy spending time with.

Depending on how often you have care, you’ll be supported by a small, consistent team. That means you’ll never have a stranger at the door, just familiar faces who get to know you properly. Over time, they’ll learn your likes and dislikes, how you prefer to spend your day, and what a good or more difficult day might look like for you.

That level of understanding means you’ll always receive the right kind of support, and any changes in your wellbeing can be spotted quickly. Aside from providing good company, it’s about building trust and real relationships.

“The two live in carers looking after my mum were amazing!”

What to expect from your first visit

We know inviting someone new into your home can feel like a big step, especially if you haven’t had care before. That’s why we take our time and focus on making you feel comfortable from the very beginning.

Your first visit is simply about getting to know each other. Your Care Manager will attend on the first day to introduce your Caregiver and help make sure things get off to a great start.

You and your Caregiver can have a relaxed chat about your day-to-day life, and they'll start to understand what kind of support or company would suit you best. There’s no pressure and nothing you need to prepare for. It’s just a friendly visit, at your pace.

You might decide to go for a short walk, stay in and chat over a cup of tea, or do something you enjoy together at home. We’ll work around what feels right for you.
